The Dorchester - Introducing the ‘Wine Vault’

The Dorchester Collection has announced the opening of its hidden sommelier’s cellar, the ‘Wine Vault’ at the prestigious luxury British hotel, The Dorchester.

A modern and intimate space for a wine tastings for up to 12 guests, the Wine Vault experience is led by The Dorchester’s head of wines Christopher Delalonde MS, who weaves insightful storytelling into each individual journey through some of the hotel’s most exceptional wines.

The new Wine Vault is submerged within The Dorchester’s vast kitchens, where over 100 chefs cook for the guests of the hotel, and adjoins the Chef’s Table where executive chef Stefan Trepp creates fully bespoke dining experiences for guests. Almost 1,000 bottles make up the carefully curated collection of wines that line the walls of the Wine Vault. In the centre of the room is a bespoke handcrafted walnut wine tasting table, above which a dramatic light feature emits the optimal light setting required for studying the colour of a wine.

Christopher is one of only 269 professionals in the world to have received the coveted title of Master Sommelier, the highest distinction in wine and beverage service. With over 25 years’ experience as a sommelier behind him, Christopher joined The Dorchester in 2018 to oversee the hotel’s extensive wine selection. Now guests are able to join Christopher in the Wine Vault to discover some of the hotel’s finest cuvées.

Christopher Delalonde MS, head of wines at The Dorchester, commented: “Here at The Dorchester we have an incredible wine offering, and when you step into the Wine Vault you will find the crème de la crème of our selection. I look forward to welcoming you for a unique experience and to sharing my passion and some insight into the world of wine with you.”
