Timed to coincide with the UK cinema release of Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree this week, Richmond Hill Hotel and its refined 144 On The Hill restaurant invite guests to step beyond the everyday and into the storybook setting. Drawing inspiration from the wonder and curiosity of this beloved tale, this nostalgic afternoon tea offers an enchanting new experience just in time for Spring/Summer 2026. ![]() Each element has been thoughtfully crafted to evoke a sense of playful escapism, with a beautifully presented spread of delicate savouries, handcrafted pastries and seasonal delights, designed to transport guests to a place where every bite feels like a delicious little adventure. Guests begin their journey with a selection of finely crafted sandwiches. From egg mayonnaise on vibrant spinach bread, to smoked salmon with lemon and dill cream wrapped in rye, alongside indulgent bites such as salt beef brioche and a delicate chicken mousse charcoal tartlet The savoury bites are followed by warm fluffy homemade scones, both classic and golden raisin, which are served with strawberry preserves and generous dollops of clotted cream. |
But the true magic lies in the pâtisserie selection, an imaginative assortment designed to surprise and delight. Think nutty fig frangipane with mascarpone cream, rosemary and rhubarb crème brûlée, zingy lemon meringue tart and rich dark chocolate marquis, alongside dainty madeleines with vanilla ganache and the chef’s surprise selection of macarons, because, as any Faraway Tree explorer knows, surprises are the best part of the journey. The Magic Faraway Tree Tea is served with a perfectly brewed pot of award-winning Birchall Tea, adding a final flourish to the nostalgic experience.
