Muriel’s Kitchen to launch at The National Gallery

Muriel’s Kitchen, the popular London bistro, is to open a brand-new restaurant, café and espresso bar at The National Gallery in early 2022. This exciting collaboration will allow Muriel’s to exclusively offer its popular food and drink at the iconic Trafalgar Square gallery.

Muriel’s was founded in South Kensington in 2011 by husband and wife team, Charlotte and Sam Miller, and is named after Charlotte’s Grandmother, who took pride in her cooking and the experience of enjoying good food. Over the last eleven years, Muriel’s has become known for its trendy style, homely environment, and seasonal menus. The current bistro is also a popular respite for museum visitors and art enthusiasts exploring the nearby ‘South Ken’ attractions. This cultural association means it is a natural step to partner with The National Gallery, one of the greatest art galleries in the world, and most visited London attractions.

The three new venues will offer dining options to suit all needs. An espresso bar will provide an ‘on-the-go’ service, whilst the café will be inspired by the South Kensington restaurant, serving a seasonal menu in a relaxed setting. Additionally, a standalone restaurant with its own branded entrance will welcome non-gallery visitors, as well as those looking to enhance their visit, with a spacious, effortlessly cool atmosphere to suit all occasions. Serving an a la carte menu celebrating the finest produce Britain has to offer, the restaurant will be open from breakfast through to dinner, including weekend brunches and afternoon tea, also featuring a private dining room and cocktail bar.

“Since opening Muriel’s Kitchen in 2011, our core ethos has been to serve fresh, seasonal produce all day long. Our lively bistro in South Kensington has always been the heart of our brand, and like many others, the last year has seen our business change in ways we never expected. Throughout this time, the tireless work of our dedicated team has enabled us to bolster our brand and give it a new lease of life. We are incredibly excited to introduce Muriel’s to this landmark venue and are dedicated to delivering our quality food, service, and operations. We look forward to welcoming new guests and feeding The National Gallery’s many visitors!” comment founders of Muriel’s Kitchen, Charlotte and Sam Miller.

Julie Molloy, Managing Director of the National Gallery Company added “We are delighted to welcome Muriel’s Kitchen to the National Gallery. Charlotte and Sam have really impressed us with their passion and commitment to delivering a high-quality guest experience with their attention to great food and exemplary service. We are really excited about the potential of this partnership to enhance the Gallery’s appeal to our domestic visitors, and our overseas visitors, when travel allows.”

All three venues will open at The National Gallery in early 2022.
