Mayfair knows luxury, but never quite to this extent: the Mayfair Park Residences challenge traditional standards of elegant living with its collaboration between the Dorchester Collection, Clivedale London, PLP Architecture, and Jouin Manku interiors.
Think Georgian facades with consistent modernism throughout, combining classical themes with new-age splendour. The new residence, containing 24 apartments overlooking Hyde Park, will host London’s most distinguished residents in its apartments, townhouses, and 8-bedroom penthouse suite on Stanhope Gate.
The Dorchester Collection played a big role in making the luxurious development come to life. In the Dorchester Hotel, ‘Townhouse One’ is being modelled: a 3,334 square foot, three-bedroom townhouse that resembles residences at the Mayfair Park Residences. In addition, the Dorchester Collection will be fully servicing the residences with hotel calibre quality amenities, including 45 Park Lane’s restaurant established by world renowned chef Wolfgang Puck as his first European outpost.
Residents will indulge in a 10,000 square foot health club, heated swimming pool and hydrotherapy in the basement levels, sauna and steam room, gym plus personal training areas, housekeeping, 24/7 concierge service, in-residence dining, Rolls-Royce town car, and valet underground parking—perks of a hotel in the comfort of your own home. The penthouse has a rooftop pool of its own.
The architecture, credited to PLP Architecture’s Lee Polisano, pays homage to the traditional British Georgian style, blended with contemporary features to play into the uniqueness of Mayfair’s duality between history and urban life. PLP describes the project as a “synthesis of old and new,” including contrasts between black and white exterior stones complemented by green and grey metal detailing. The features of the complex play more into contemporary architecture with some aspects of traditional architecture being preserved to match the eclectic nature of Mayfair.
Parisian Interior designers Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku, of Jouin Manku, play off PLP’s interpretation of classic design intertwined with contemporary design. The rooms of the Mayfair Park Residences are classical in spirit, but “always modern,” according to Jouin Manku. The group is responsible for the elaborately decorated lobby, which enchants residents with its British motifs of leaves, rain, and fog — emulated by hanging crystals and floating greenery, stretching from the ceiling to the marble floor. Residences include expansive solid stone fireplaces to keep traditional British values alive in a luxury, contemporary fashion. The most impressive contribution by Jouin Manku is found in the lower levels of the complex — the spa. Indian motifs appear along the walls, with brightly coloured and exotic tiles with inlaid glass. Light refracts off the tiles to create a vibrant spa atmosphere in which residents can escape stresses of daily life in the comfort of their own home.
Clivedale has another luxury residence in the works to be completed in 2021: the Mandarin Oriental, also in Mayfair. Residents will have access to services by the Mandarin Oriental Mayfair Hotel, including 24-hour concierge, valet parking, and security, as well as chauffer services.
