This April, the team behind popular Hackney restaurant NEST, Luke Wasserman, Toby Neill and Johnnie Crowe, will open FENN, a new seasonal British restaurant in Fulham. Inspired by Fulham’s proximity to the Thames, FENN takes its name from the old English word for ‘low-lying wetland’, symbolising the restaurants commitment to serving locally sourced, British seasonal dishes.
Initially welcoming diners to the terrace only, FENN’s heated and covered outdoor terrace will throw open it’s reclaimed antique French doors to allow up to 14 covers to experience the menu for the first time. Flooded with natural light and adorned with hanging plants, the terrace will offer the perfect escape from the elements for those looking for a long overdue meal with family or friends.
Continuing the approach taken in their sister site, the restaurant will focus on creative, seasonal, produce-driven cooking that celebrates the very best this country has to offer with both a la carte and set menu available. Executive Head Chef Johnnie and Head Chef Joe Laker, formerly of Anglo, have worked closely together to curate an opening a la carte menu and Chef’s set menu which features dishes such as Lincolnshire Poacher Cheese and Truffle Dumplings; Hand Dived Scottish Scallop with Roast Chicken Butter; Halibut, Cornish Crab and Sea Herbs and Nutmeg Custard Tart. Front of House will be overseen by Harry Cooper whom alongside founder Luke has hand selected a range of sustainably produced wines and seasonal cocktails to complement the menu.
From 18th May, guests will be welcomed inside the restaurant, with the 30 seater dining room centred around a single hand carved ash wood table with additional tables surrounding it. Focused around the use of natural materials, all materials have been sustainably sourced and carefully restored by founder Toby Neill, in keeping with FENN’s ethos of local is best. Those looking for a private dining space will be invited through the kitchen and downstairs to FENN’s new wine cellar – a cosy and intimate private dining space which seats up to 16 guests. A wall of wine dominates the room, with bottles on display for guests to peruse and sample mid meal, whilst a fully stocked antique cocktail cabinet offers drinks for those looking for a something a little stronger. Here, Head Chef Joe has created a special feasting menu which will be available exclusively for private diners.
Founder Toby Neill says, “It has been a really tough and frustrating few months for us but we are thrilled that our opening is now within touching distance. We can’t wait to start showcasing all that we’ve been working on and bring a taste of what we do at NEST to West London.
Co-founder Johnnie added - "We’ve worked so hard to create great relationships with farmers and local producers over the past four years and it’s been so tough to see how they’ve struggled this last year. I can’t wait for FENN to open to be able to showcase what we, and they, do best.” FENN’s terrace will open on 13th April with the inside restaurant following on 18th May. www.fennrestaurant.co.uk
