Pantechnicon - in fabulous Belgravia - celebrates Midsummer this June with Nuet Dry Aquavit

As Epicureans there is nothing more we love than discovering new and exciting places for our readers to visit. Thus, it was with great pleasure that we accepted an invitation to discover the hidden gem of Belgravia - Pantechnicon. Although we had previously visited the food and lifestyle emporium this was our first visit to the hidden gem of their rooftop bar. Okay, I say hidden gem - however, the place was bursting full with Londoners, Businessmen, Ladies who Lunch and more enjoying the sun on the roof and other floors!


Nuet Dry Aquavit, the world’s first super-premium aquavit, has partnered with some of London’s best restaurants, bars and rooftop terraces to celebrate the traditional Scandinavian Midsummer. From Wednesday 22nd June, dedicated set menus, delicious cocktails, exclusive masterclasses and beautiful flower garlands will be available to Londoners for a unique one-week event in full Scandi-style. Lev i Nuet!

One of the locations Nuet Dry Aquavit has partnered with is Pantechnicon, a food and drink cultural destination in the heart of London, to celebrate Midsummer with a plethora of experiences and engaging activities in full Scandi style. Honouring its Norwegian roots, Nuet Dry Aquavit will share with Londoners, and visitors to the capital, a heartfelt celebration with exclusive cocktails from award-winning mixologists and authentic Scandi masterclasses.

Cocktails

From Thursday 23rd to Sunday 26th June, Nuet Dry Aquavit will take over Pantechnicon’s Roof Garden with a selection of innovative cocktail creations from head mixologist Gento Torigata and special guest, renowned Norwegian mixologist, Odd Strandbakken. A sneak peek of the cocktail list includes:

  • Tomato Highball - Nuet Dry Aquavit, tomato, caraway & peppercorn stock, tonic water

  • Violet Negroni - Nuet Dry Aquavit, Pantechnicon Violet & Gentian Bitter, Cocchi Americano

  • Urban Farmer’s Spritz - bee pollen infused Nuet Dry Aquavit, carrot & sea buckthorn cordial, Muyu Chinotto

  • Under X Wonder - Nuet Dry Aquavit, Pantechnicon Dry Vermouth and ocean essence

  • Honey-Butter Sour - Nuet Dry Aquavit, yuzu liquor, lemon juice and spiced honey butter

All cocktails are priced individually, ranging from £10 to £18.

Gourmet Food

Accompanying the cocktails are five gourmet small dishes - created by Pantechnicon’s head chef, Jenny Warner - made to share, or enjoyed by themselves, with some using ingredients that can be found in the cocktails, for the ultimate Midsummer pairing experience. Among the small plates are:

  • Lamb croquettes with carrot mayonnaise (£14)

  • Aquavit cured trout, hot mustard and pickled cucumber on rye (£12)

  • Burnt butter waffle, spruce ice cream, cloudberries (£8)

Midsummer Activity

To emphasise the Scandinavian authenticity of the Nuet Dry Aquavit’s Midsummer celebrations at Pantechnicon, all Roof Garden guests will be able to create their own traditional flower garlands. Once complete, guests will enjoy an ice-cold shot of Nuet Dry Aquavit, toasting with the iconic saying “lev i Nuet”, meaning ‘live in the moment’.

Nuet Masterclass

For cocktail connoisseurs who want to take their expertise to the next level, guests can learn how to enhance Nuet Dry Aquavit’s unique flavour during a masterclass. The exclusive experience is hosted by James Greig, award winning mixologist and Nuet Dry Aquavit’s global ambassador, in the ambience of Pantechnicon’s Eldr dining room. Guests will make three cocktails from the exclusive Nuet Dry Aquavit X Pantechnicon cocktail list, learning all the secrets on how to shake and serve delicious cocktails. In addition, guests will also learn more about Aquavit’s 500-year fascinating history and how Nuet Dry Aquavit is helping to form a new appreciation for the Scandinavian spirit.


All guests will receive a goodie bag with Nuet Dry Aquavit products, along with special discounts towards the purchase of Nuet Dry Aquavit 70 cl bottles on location.

Pantechnicon’s Head Mixologist, Gento Torigata comments: “Nuet Dry Aquavit is a brand that is quite authentic to Norwegian tradition, in terms of craft and quality of the spirits in both the aquavit and the Toddy. They also take a more youthful and dynamic approach to what has been the aquavit interpretation and perception for many years. For me, it was important to express Nordic flavours, with Nuet Dry Aquavit as the base and only using ingredients from other Nordic countries. It’s an expression of ingredients, each with clearly set concepts, as there were so many rich stories that inspired my five cocktails, and it was key that each drink offered a different journey and experience for the guest.”
