An evening with FINE+RARE celebrating Tiberio Wines

Created for oenophiles and collectors as well as an esteemed network of producers, suppliers, private clients, and more, FINE+RARE delivers products full of flavour and collectable prestige.

FINE+RARE operates in the UK, US, Asia and Europe, with circa $750 million in assets under management worldwide. Today, the group’s client base is largely private collectors who buy, store and sell their luxury portfolio via FINE+RARE’s industry-leading single digital technology platform.

FINE+RARE also hosts a series of events and experiences throughout the year allowing potential buyers and collectors to discover the world’s most renowned wine and spirit brands. Each event offers a chance to understand these producers’ styles, philosophies, history, greatest collections, and special releases.

To celebrate the wines of Tiberio, we joined FINE+RARE and Tiberio alongside a culinary experience crafted by three Michelin-star Chef Hélène Darroze at the Connaught. We enjoyed a six-course meal that explored the evolution of the estate, with each course paired with a curated selection of five different cuvées and 26 vintages, highlighting the journey from Tiberio's inaugural vintage in 2012 to the present.

Cristiana Tiberio

In 2008, Cristiana Tiberio and her brother Antonio took the helm of their family’s winery from their father, Riccardo Tiberio. Cristiana, a chemistry graduate, teaches winemaking chemistry and sommelier classes. Her extensive training includes prestigious stints with renowned producers, including Jacques Selosse in Champagne and Egon Müller in the Mosel. Since taking over all winemaking duties in 2011, Cristiana has become the guiding force behind the estate’s wines, which reflect her commitment to expressing the unique terroir of Abruzzo.

Living and working in Abruzzo, she emphasises that true wine expression comes from understanding the local climate and environment. Under her guidance, Tiberio Estate focuses exclusively on grapes from their specific sub-zone in Abruzzo, producing exceptional Trebbiano Abruzzese, Pecorino, and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wines.

The Tiberio Estate

The story of Azienda Agricola Tiberio reads like a New World tale emerging from the ancient lands beneath the Majella and Gran Sasso mountains in Abruzzo. Riccardo Tiberio discovered an impressive old plot of Trebbiano Abruzzese vines, prompting him to change his family's destiny. In 2000, he purchased 8 hectares of these unique vines, knowing their rarity and potential in the modern wine world.

Guided by decades of experience, Riccardo planted indigenous varieties such as Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano Abruzzese, and Pecorino, alongside small plantings of international varietals. Tiberio’s first vintage in 2004 quickly garnered attention for its mineral whites and fruit-forward reds, establishing the estate's reputation.

We enjoyed tasting an incredible selection of wines while going on an enlightening adventure with Cristiana Tiberio, gaining insight into the estate's rich history and evolution over the last two decades. Special offerings throughout the evening included Tiberio's flagship wine, Fonte Canale, as well as the estate's Archivio (a thoroughbred expression of Montepulciano) and the rare Rosato, Cerasuolo.
