Sun in Mallorca at Sir Richard Branson's Son Bunyola

Located on the picturesque island of Mallorca, the vast private gated estate covers 700 acres of stunning landscape and includes three villas, the four-bedroom Sa Terra Rotja, the five-bedroom Sa Punta de S’Aguila and the four-bedroom Son Balagueret. At the heart of Son Bunyola is a historic Finca building dating back to the 1800’s surrounded by vines, citrus fruit trees, almond and olive trees.

Sa Terra Rotja translates as ‘red earth’ from the local Mallorquín language and is a four-bedroom villa situated near the edge of the Estate next to the tennis court. As well as having its own kitchen, living room and dining area the villa has a private heated swimming pool and plenty of space on the terrace for sunbathing. This villa comfortably sleeps 8 adults in 4 en-suite bedrooms.

Sa Punta de S’Aguila translates as ‘Eagle’s Point’ and is a five-bedroom villa located along a track above the coastline. Built in traditional Mallorcan style, with exposed beam ceilings and terracotta tiled floors, it has been sympathetically built into the landscape and has panoramic sea and mountain views. Sa Punta de S’Aguila has a private heated swimming pool, kitchen, living room and dining area. This villa comfortably sleeps 10 adults in 5 en-suite bedrooms.

Son Balagueret is spread over three floors and includes a secluded central courtyard, a private heated swimming pool and panoramic views over the estate and the dramatic coastline. The villa sleeps 8 adults in four bedrooms, one of which is located in a unique and historic turret dating back to the 13th century.

WHAT TO DO: Most guests come to Son Bunyola for some serious relaxation, and those looking for a peaceful location will find there’s nowhere better. With a dedicated team of hosts and a chef on site guests are invited to sit back and relax whilst every detail is taken care of. The team will even arrange dinner reservations at a local restaurant for one night during the stay. Of course, those looking to get active will find endless options from tennis at the on-site tennis court (racquets and balls provided) to hiking in the surrounding hills and mountains.

LOCATION & ACCESS: Visitors to the island of Mallorca typically arrive via the capital, Palma, which is around a 40-minute drive to the estate. To reach the estate we recommend hiring a car for additional flexibility when exploring the area, though of course transfers can be arranged. The traditional Mallorcan villages of Banyalbufar and Esporles are a few kilometres away from Son Bunyola, providing a variety of restaurants, tapas bars and other local amenities.

CHILDREN: Son Bunyola offers a private and secluded family holiday. Each of the villas has its own private pool just a stone’s throw away from the main living space, perfect for little feet. The concierge service takes care of all activities tailored to the whole family, and there is endless fun to be had, from splashing around with the funky pool floats to getting competitive with a family tennis tournament.
