Kasbah Tamadot - Sir Richard Branson's Moroccan escape

It's easy to imagine you're a million miles away from it all at Kasbah Tamadot, located in Asni, a little village and marketplace in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, Morocco. The romantic setting is perfect for relaxation and a cultural discovery of Moroccan food and customs.

Kasbah Tamadot

At every turn, guests will be immersed in Kasbah Tamadot’s rich history, with antiques dotted around each room collected by the former owner, renowned antiques dealer and interior designer, Luciano Tempo. Kasbah Tamadot proudly recruits 95% of its staff from the surrounding communities; along with the extended family of 4 mules, 3 donkeys and 2 camels a stay at Kasbah Tamadot is like a stay in one‘s very own Moroccan home.

This tranquil and secluded hotel has 28 rooms and suites, including our Master Suite and our ten Berber Tents. Kasbah Tamadot is operated ‘hotel style’ and rates are based on a bed and breakfast basis, of course with an all-inclusive option available if guests would like. The entire property can be hired exclusively for private use and in these instances, rates are all inclusive.

Each room at Kasbah Tamadot is decorated in a unique style with artefacts from around the world. The luxurious Berber tented suites offer stunning views of the Atlas Mountains, king-size beds, large soaking tubs (some with mountain views) and private terraces with sun loungers and outdoor dining areas. Some even have private plunge pools. They also all come equipped with split air conditioning units to keep cool in summer and warm in winter! Accessed through the herb and vegetable garden, the tented suites are perfect for those looking for a little more privacy.

WHAT TO DO: Relaxing is an art and Kasbah Tamadot’s infinity pool set against the backdrop of the mountains is where this skill is best learnt. Spa treatments in the luxurious Asounfou spa, cookery lessons, tennis courts, dining under the stars and private dining are but a few of the activity options available.

Something quite special about Kasbah Tamadot is the opportunity to learn about the local culture and for guests to really immerse themselves in it; venture out to the local villages to enjoy a cup of fresh mint tea in a traditional Berber home, and a visit to Kasbah Tamadot wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the Eve Branson Foundation’s local projects, including a little retail therapy at the Berber Boutique which donates 30% of its revenue to this wonderful cause.

LOCATION & ACCESS: Kasbah Tamadot is approximately a 45 minute drive south of Marrakech Airport and approximately one hour south from central Marrakech. Luxury car transfers between Marrakech airport and other points in the city to Kasbah Tamadot can be arranged. Helicopter transfers can also be arranged.

CHILDREN: Younger guests are welcomed to Kasbah Tamadot during selected weeks in the year. The team get creative and organise special activities just for kids; from teaching them about the Moroccan culture and how to make traditional Berber bread to enjoying local delicacies at their very own Moroccan tea party.
