Harrods Fine Wines & Spirits Rooms...an oenophiles dream

You don’t actually have to visit the amazing Harrods Fine Wines and Spirit Emporiums to buy something, but I’m sure you will! The magnificent rooms are both a destination for exploration and education for novices and experts alike and have experts on hand to offer advice and incomparable knowledge and passion.

Ed Gerard, Harrods Buying Manager for Wines and Spirits comments: ‘The Fine Wines and Spirits Rooms are an exciting showcase of Harrods excellence, setting it apart from any other retailer in the world. The new rooms will break down barriers and change perceptions on the world of wines and spirits by focusing more on the flavour profile of the product, rather than the specific categories and brands.’

The Fine Wines room classifies products by terroirs allowing customers to discover a new wine from a region previously unexplored. As you would expect from the Harrods brand each terroir offers the best in provenance including a multitude of vintages varying from flavour, age and price point.

Renowned restaurant and interiors designer Martin Brudnizki Design Studio has created a space that best showcases the fabulous wines on offer and it was inspired by the golden days of the 1920s with a marble patterned floor and limed-oak timber wall panelling.

Moving through to the Spirits Room, customers are encouraged to explore the world of fine spirits categorised by flavour profile. The leader in the world of cognac, Louis XIII opens its first boutique outside of Beijing within the room and showcases its collection with a digital ‘Century Wheel’ highlighting over 1,200 eaux devies. Here you’ll find beautiful hand-crafted limited edition bottles ranging in price up to £75,000! We had the pleasure of sampling some fine cognacs accompanied with rare cigars in the adjoining Cigar Room!

For the whisky aficionado, Harrods welcomes the five international leaders Suntory, Glenfiddich, Dalmore, Macallan and Glenmorangie to display their premium liquids in individually styled spaces complete with dedicated brand masters on hand to demystify the depth behind the liquid.

The Champagne room surpasses expectations by offering visitors a bottle for every taste and occasion. Maintaining the theme of the hall, all Champagnes and Sparkling Wines are showcased by means of flavour profile. The three notable brands presented, Moet et Chandon, Joseph Perrier and Dom Perignon, each offer a wide spectrum of vintages and expressions, many of which are made exclusively available within Harrods.

One of the most exciting features introduced in the new department is the one of a kind Education Room and services including bottle personalisation with an in-house engraving machine, personal consultations and bespoke cellar plans those looking to build their collections. The Education Room offers live streaming to vineyards and winemakers in the best regions and chateaus in the world allowing customers the opportunity to see where the wine is crafted; an experience otherwise not available to the general public.
