Mont Rochelle is a stunning 26-bedroom hotel and vineyard just under an hour’s drive from Cape Town in the town of Franschhoek in South Africa. Franschhoek is a traditional vineyard town in the Western Cape Province and is considered to be the food and wine capital of South Africa. Mont Rochelle is a perfect location for rest and relaxation where guests are encouraged to sample the delicious home-grown wines, swim in the outdoor pool, dine in our on-site restaurants or discover the local area.
Mont Rochelle has 26 rooms including six suites all arranged around the main building. There are four Shiraz Rooms with king-size beds and all feature courtyard or valley views. The six Merlot Rooms are larger than the Shiraz Rooms and also boast king-size beds with valley views. The six Cabernet Rooms include a private terrace overlooking the valley. There are also four spacious Pinotage Suites which each feature a separate lounge. Guests staying in the two Cap Classique Suites will enjoy a lounge, a private terrace and their own plunge pool.
The exclusive Manor House, is made up of four deluxe suites, and a bunk room for children. The Manor House captures that ‘home away from home’ feel for up to 8 adults whilst offering all the luxury of a hotel stay.
WHAT TO DO: The grounds at Mont Rochelle cover 39 hectares (about 100 acres) and guests are welcome to go exploring. A favourite activity for many guests is picnicking on the estate; the kitchen can arrange a well-stocked picnic basket with a chilled bottle of wine. There are two restaurants; MIKO and Country Kitchen as well as a cosy bar, a spa, a gym and a heated outdoor pool. That’s not forgetting the vineyard and wine cellar of course. At Mont Rochelle wine tasting isn’t just a special event, it’s an everyday occurrence!
LOCATIONS & ACCESS: Mont Rochelle is 45 minutes’ drive from Cape Town in South Africa and is within 35 minutes’ drive of the Stellenbosch, Paarl and Somerset West wine routes. Transfers either from the city or from Cape Town International Airport can be arranged, or guests arriving by car will find it an easy drive to the property.
CHILDREN: At Mont Rochelle children are known as ‘Little Corkers’ and are welcome to stay year-round. The spacious Pinotage and Cap Classique suites in the main hotel are able to accommodate children on single beds, or the Manor House makes an ideal base for the whole family.
