Artist Profile: Francois Chartier

Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Francois Chartier has always been interested in the visual arts and for twenty- five years he worked as an art director and illustrator in the publishing and advertising industry before focusing full time on his large- scale, still-life oil paintings.

Chartier spends around three to four months on each painting he creates, through layering his mediums (oil and acrylic) and experimenting with various tools. The illusion of depth and sense of presence go far beyond what is found in any photographic image.
