Castellanos was born in 1956 in Madrid, Spain, where he continues to live and work today. He studied at the University of Fine Arts in Madrid and graduated with a doctorate in fine arts. Over the last thirty years, Castellanos has developed his techniques and naturally progressed into hyperrealism.
His landscape paintings are made using a combination of paint and airbrush, and his main subjects are cities, such as Zurich and New York, often including iconic architecture, people, and trees. Castellanos’ use of ambient light and exquisite reflections in water set the mood of his paintings, which invite the viewer to look further.
