Artefact - the contemporary craft fair at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour

Now in its second edition, Artefact at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour (10 – 15 May 2022) shines a light on artisanal excellence. On show will be an array of astonishing work, including museum-quality pieces from around the globe. Attracting top designers, architects, collectors and enthusiasts, experience the joy that handmade objects can bring.

Artefact will be staged in the magnificent Design Avenue. Take a voyage of discovery and gain a greater understanding of how one-of-a-kind designs are conceived and made, as well as acquire unique work to cherish for years to come. Meet leading gallerists from the vibrant craft scene and view authentic work up close from established and emerging makers and artists.


An impressive roll-call of contemporary craft and visual arts galleries includes 155A Gallery, Cavaliero Finn, Jaggedart, Katie Jones Gallery, Madeinbritaly, Mixed Metals, Oxford Ceramics Gallery Ting Ying Gallery, Vezzini & Chen and Vessel Gallery. The imagination, diversity and techniques on display will attest to the relevance of collectible craft today, with artisans engaging in different media from paper and porcelain, to stalwart craft disciplines such as metalwork, glass, sculpture, textiles, ceramics and upcycled materials.

With interior design placing greater value on craft, Artefact will be an opportunity to discover, learn and connect with remarkable design talent at the world’s premier design destination.

Conversations in Craft

Broadening specialist knowledge, the Conversations in Craft programme will offer insider insights from the craft industry’s leading lights. Featuring renowned experts, from gallerists to makers and curators, and chaired by writer and Material Matters podcaster Grant Gibson, it will delve deeper into the world of contemporary craft. Inspiration and specialist knowledge will be shared at sessions brimming with creative ideas and in-depth analysis that will keep you one step ahead.


Meet The Makers

A curated programme will bring contemporary craft to life. Makers from QEST (Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust), the charity that supports the training and education of talented and aspiring craftspeople, will offer daily demonstrations. Transforming an idea into reality takes skill and vision; from revitalising heritage techniques and cutting-edge innovation to unlocking the potential of materials and artisan processes, see these talented artisans in action.


Artisan Trail

For many showrooms at the Design Centre craftsmanship is at the heart of their business. Throughout, there will be live demonstrations, talks and a behind-the-scenes look at how their products are made, all curated especially for Artefact.
