Smoke Signal is a full-bodied drink with opening bitter and smoky notes from the Campari and Ilegal Mezcal Reposado, balanced by a sweet undertone derived from sweet cherry wine and coffee liqueur. Created by Ivan Arena, Bar Manager at Amaranto Bar (Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane), the ruby-red drink is one of Four Seasons' selected 'Masterdishes'; a curated list of iconic and innovative culinary creations from around the world.
Ingredients:
30ml Ilegal Mezcal Reposado
30ml Campari
15ml Visciolata del Cardinale (Cherry wine)
10ml coffee liqueur
Cinnamon stick
Method:
Step 1: Pour all ingredients into a pre-chilled mixing glass
Step 2: Add ice and stir for 10 seconds to mix all ingredients
Step 3: Strain into a serving glass (an old-fashioned glass is preferred) on the rocks
Step 4: For the smoke effect and taste, burn a stick of cinnamon on the wooden base of a glass bell jar for a few seconds, then hover the glass jar and smoke above the cocktail to infuse
